Sorry to beg for help, but I am confused. Yesterday I ordered parts, but when today I input them into part picker, I got the following warning > G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400 Memory operating voltage of 1.65V exceeds Intel Ivy Bridge CPU recommended maximum of 1.5V The ram listed the mobo as compatible, but will it really be incompatible with the i5 3450? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/nm8A

How about it? Anybody using 1.65 with an i5, or should I hurry up and cancel my order?

You can just turn up the voltage in your BIOS if your motherboard is any good. It's just that the default voltage is probably too little for 2400, so you would turn it up like you would if you were overclocking. Whether you need 2400 is another question you should ask and I would say you don't need it

Your RAM and cpu have different voltages. Stop worrying, It's fine.

>>29002611 I don't especially intent to crank it up to 2400 right away, but I may do it down the road and it was on sale with free shipping for like 10 bucks more than equal quality 2400. I was under the impression OCing the ram gave a reasonable performance bump though. Is that not the case? >>29002634 Alright, I do tend to worry about this stuff. Thank you

>>29002934 Just use google, dummy. Now stop shitposting, you'll make people believe ram speed makes a difference. Then we'll have a thread on rotational velodensity and how it reduces .mp3 bitrate over time.

>>29002967 google gave mixed answers, which is why I came to /g/ for confirmation. And I, like many human beings, don't know much about ram speed or its impact on day-to-day performance. This is why they invented that curly looking exclamation point. So people could ask questions.
