isn't it dumb that US doesnt use metric system becuase every other country uses it but we dont

We use both imperial and metric in the UK, mostly metric.

US uses both metric and imperial, it just depends where you're looking. >>28219495 You would be correct. The metric system is taught alongside the imperial system in schools, and problems will very often be asked in both systems. Within heavy science classes, metric more often than not the only system used. Outside of the classroom, we see mostly imperial, but our tools will usually show both units. Like measuring cups will show a scale for both cups and milliliters, thermometers will show both celsius and farenheit, rulers will show both inches and centimeters, etc... Quite frankly, I don't see any problem in using both. Imperial is much easier to work with for everyday measurements where converting between units is something you SHOULDN'T be doing in the first place, whereas metric is more useful as an industry and academic standard because of its ties to nature, like the fact that a gram is the mass of a milliliter of water.

I remember using metric exclusively in science classes. My European car has a metric thermometer too so that keeps me up to speed as well. It's funny that a lot of Amerifats learn metric through drug use.

Smart people (engineers, doctors/nurses, traders, etc.) use the metric system. Every other dumbass use the imperial system. That said I prefer F to C because Fahrenheit conveys more information (there's a difference between 71 and 73F but not much difference between 30C and 31C)

1 hours later 28220604 Anonymous
>>28220470 They don't teach people how to use decimals in the US? The difference between 71F and 73F is 1.1 Celsius. How does an extra 0.1C convey any useful information?

Amerifag here. I remeber we used the metric system in High School Chemistry and it was way simpler due to decimals and the power of 10.

Im fine with the way america handles the metric system. For precise measurements (scientific) we use metric, for practical we use the imperial system. I like that I can measure a foot by using my foot, and a yard being approximately one step.

it is dumb. I remember in elementary school they got us used to using inches, pounds, etc. Then at the last moment they tried teaching us metric and im like what the fuck. Amerifat here, we studied metric in school. I don't know jack shit about Imperial, to be honest, other than generally knowing how far a mile is, how heavy 100 lbs is, etc. I cannot convert units within Imperial (eg ? quarts = 1 gallon). we should use metric.
