Can I just solder my CMOS reset jumper?
It's just two blobs of solder, and shorting it on boot doesn't seem to work.
What say you, faggots?
Pic related.

If you're trying to reset the supervisor password, you can't. You must remove the password chip and replace it with another one.

You could try
but if you're trying to clear the bios password or system restrictions at a low level, don't expect to go far if it's built from 2000 onwards
same goes for trying to get past by removing the cmos battery

Aha!
It turns out it's the power-on password, not the supervisor password, which CAN be reset by way of clearing the CMOS.
So, question still stands - safe to solder?
