>>22434380 Nope. I also hate watching sports. I like playing sports, but I can't figure out what people get out of watching other people play sports. Especially professional sports. How do you decide what team you want to cheer for? The that happens to be based in your general geographic area? Why? Why do you give a fuck if they win or lose? I don't get it. Playing a sport is a whole different story. It's competitive. It is bonding (with teammates). It is an excuse to get cardio without being bored to death. But sitting around watching people? Meh. Doesn't make sense.

>>22434380 I loved watching it when i was younger Now I find it boring as shit and I'm only 21 I'd rather play it myself or play the video games. Sitting down and watching any sport is fucking boring, especially seeing how they are changing football/basketball into this PG bullshit

I've never got the idea that as a guy I'm just supposed to like sports either. I don't ever talk to people about sports, so it baffles me why someone can think I watched or cared about the game last night. It's the exact same as talking about a fucking T.V show. If you don't play the sport, I don't know why you'd watch it. I'm really into competitive online games, so I like to watch people who are better than me so I can get better. I imagine it's the same as sports, you watch the guy shoot sick 3 point shots or whatever then go and try to do it yourself. I don't know how you pick a favorite team though. My favorite WoW players just make really good pvp movies or give helpful advice, and my favorite league team plays unconventional champions and doesn't give a fuck about whats "good" compared to whats fun.

>>22434669 Regardless if it's advertisement or not, it still happens, and it's better than nothing. With the increasing prevalence of obesity, I'd actually be glad that these people spend their income on sports-based products, as most of these products encourage a healthier lifestyle (sports equipment, event tickets, etc). I'm not sure about specific programs, but just that certain professional athletes exist that disadvantaged or otherwise impoverished youth can look up to is pretty amazing if you think about it. Professional athletes actually make better role models for these disadvantaged youths because their presence is more tangible than say, the president or top researchers at a remote laboratory. I personally am not 100% for the professional sports industry, but I like to try and find some positive aspects that it brings to American society.

>>22434788 I agree with this a lot, I don't really watch any sports at all, didn't really even care for the Olympics, I would just watch some gold medal event but not really care. But after getting into weightlifting I've actually started watching and enjoying watching weightlifting. I like to watch how the professionals pull and do their lifts, but I also find it enjoyable now. Funny thing is pretty much the exact same thing happend for me with dota2, didn't play dota for a long time and never cared about esports, now I've started watching a lot of it after playing again. I'm Canadian and everyone I know is into hockey and follows the games when the season is on, but I seriously just can't give a shit, I'll watch it if I'm at a pub with friends, but I wouldn't actually watch it at home by myself.

I'm a huge sports fan and don't get people who don't like sports. I have a friend who since we were kids bitches and moans about sports pre-empting regular shows (this used to always come up when he would bitch about missing The Simpsons or some other shit). My sis is in Dallas for the Giants/Cowboys game this evening. and I've got Giants season tix.
