Hi /fit/, a while ago, I decided to lose weight, and I did, a fair bit, I went from 280 lbs at 6'0" to 200 lbs now. Now though I feel as though I've hit a plateau, with no change in either diet or exercise - I can't seem to get below 200 lbs no matter what. My regime is basically the paleo diet + gym 3 times a week. In the gym, I do a wee bit of cardio to warm up, then a mixture of machines and free weight - I've been weaning of machines lately, and trying to do more free weights, but I'm an impossibly uncoordinated individual - to the extent that I actually think I may have Assburgers of the motor system - and things like deadlifts means everyone who sees me cringes when they imagine the awful shit I'm doing to my back. I'm working on achieving a better form, but please keep that in mind when recommending exercise. I have no problem with motivation (damn, it feels good to say that, and it's fucking true, as well), but obviously, I need some guidance. I'm primarily looking to lose fat, obviously. I have read the sticky, but I'm afraid I might be missing something. So, /fit/, what do? Pic kinda related, I'm not as bad as this, but fucking close.

Welp, final bump.

how much do you eat

37 min later 21005814 Anonymous
>>21005711 I'd say about 2.5k calories, maybe a bit less. I really should start counting them, shouldn't I?

38 min later 21005831 Anonymous
How long have you been stuck?

39 min later 21005843 bird
>>21005814 yeah. eat less, and if that doesn't work, you've probably been dieting too long and need a break at maintenance cals so your metabolism and hormones may recover.

39 min later 21005851 Anonymous
>>21005831 About two months, give or take. I've actually started eating less & better quality food in that time. Used to be I'd lose about 2 pounds a week, but now, nothing.

>>21005843 What does that entail, exactly? Pigging out?

>to 200 More like from dwarfplanet to landwhale Still, keep up the good job anon

>>21005851 Yeah I would say eat a little less. You could have also gained some muscle which would account for the weight. Do you look any better in the mirror?

44 min later 21005926 Anonymous
>>21005892 I do look a bit better, yeah. I mean, my body's kind of weird, all of my fat is concentrated in my torso, I've got really strong legs (from years of schlepping my fat around), and I now have decent shoulders and back, but my arms and my pecs are fucking pitiful.

>>21005857 Naw, maintenance calories. As in eating the same amount as you burn. Find an online calculator. And add in moderate carbohydrates. Two weeks or so is good. http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fa t-loss/the-full-diet-break.html

>>21005970 Cheers, mate. Will do. Any suggestions for a workout routine? I was thinking about trying pic related, modified a bit to suit my fucking idiot of a motor system.

50 min later 21006032 Anonymous
Workout 7 days a week. Lift 3-4 days and do cardio on the others. If you can sprint, sprint. It is a motherfucker. Burns more calories than glorified walking. Also cycle. Get on the bike for 30 minutes at least. Bro you've made so much progress. Now is the time to double down. I would also recommend doing intermittent fasting and using yohimbine hcl while doing it. Your like 3/4 of the way there. Push through, don't accept not pushing through.

52 min later 21006051 bird
>>21006018 that should do you just fine. just lift hard and heavy and you'll see results.

>>21006095 good luck breh. sounds like you have the motivation. that's the most important aspect; failure is unlikely.

EAT LESS, EXERCISE MORE. It's going to be painful, but less painful than grabbing a machete and just slicing off slabs of fat. And that paleo diet is stupid. If you are going to do stuff because it's primitive you may as well put lipstick on your ass and run around naked like a baboon.

>>21006236 >And that paleo diet is stupid. If you are going to do stuff because it's primitive you may as well put lipstick on your ass and run around naked like a baboon. Lel'd heartily. I dunno, I've got solid undergrad level knowledge of biochemistry and metabolism, and the basic premise is quite valid. I'll give it a few more months, then maybe switch to something else.

>>21006339 Well, height-wise, I'm hardly likely to change anything. Weight-wise, I have no idea. I'm not looking for a specific weight, more for an under-20 bf percentage. And if I can get below 15%, so much the better.

Get out of the gym then and go to a soccer park. Or some shit. Humans didn't evolve their bodies in gyms, they did it running jumping and climbing, usually chasing down dinner. Chase a ball around, it does wonders. It sounds like where you need improvement is in those parts of your core/posture that let you connect the strength in your arms with the strength in your legs. If you can get your full body working together to shift your ass along, you'll be able to output more energy before your body feels strained and tells you to stop = more weight loss.

>>21006411 That might be a good idea, if I weren't so horribly uncoordinated. I do walk/cycle everywhere that doesn't absolutely require taking the car, though.

1 hours later 21006550 Anonymous
>>21006451 That's how you develop coordination. You can be uncoordinated for two reasons: (1) Neurologically your brain just isn't used to having to give complex instructions to all your muscles at once (2) the important muscles that adjust your posture and get you turned right so you can perform coordinated motions are underdeveloped are not well balanced with the other muscles they need to work with. The way to fix either of those is just to go out and keep trying to do things that require coordination. And I mean mixed pace, back and forth, weaving, jumping... Unless you have some major neurological impairment that makes those kinds of things *impossible*, getting conditioned for a full-body sport is probably the most effective thing you can do.
