You probably just need stronger wrists. Do wrist curls and get one of those grip strength trainers

I get wrist pain from barbell curls, but never dumbbell curls. At the bottom of the rep, are your palms facing towards your body, or are they facing forward?

assuming you're doing normal curls, try using suicide grip (put your thumb on the same side of the bar as your other fingers and grip with your pinky, forefinger and middlefinger) Or you could just have weak wrists.
