Ive never been to both, but i know a few people that live in Melbourne and ive heard nothing bad.. Good night life, if you go to UM its the best uni in the country.. apparently very respected internationally. Good internet, dont know about gyms and women though.

It depends on what you value in places you live. Australia has better weather, a more relaxed lifestyle, most part time jobs pay significantly better than in the US. On the downside, things are more expensive in aus than in the US and australia is in the middle of nowhere. The only places that you can travel to easily are new zealand or south east asia - where as from michigan you can travel to all of the US, canana, mexico, sth america etc etc.
