ITT: Basic advice for new lifters I've never lifted before, and I'm starting tomorrow at my local gym. I'm 16 and looking for a good routine to build all around muscle mass and get loads of strength. My stats: 5'8'' 125lbs. I don't know if I should do SS or what. Should I be doing something different due to my age, or am I good doing just any routine? Any advice is welcome.

Also, make sure (if you're actually doing SS correctly) to eat a shitload. GOMAD is for people like you (125 lbs) This is pretty much the age (16) I wish i had started at

Try to get as much meat as you can, preferably from lean sources like chicken breast, tuna and 93/7 ground beef

For sticking to a low budget you can also boil and/or rinse less lean ground beef, say 70/30 or 80/20. Buying in bulk will help. You're not too poor off without meat, but it's not optimal either. Basically you're just gonna have to fight to get as much protein as you can, and I doubt you'll ever eat too much. No one gets to 500g protein in a day by accident... Definitely make sure you've got form down correctly and your flexibility is up to par, otherwise you set yourself up for injuries. Keep on reading reliable info from sources like Tate, Rippetoe, Pinder, McRobert... Make sure you warm-up properly before lifting or you might set yourself up for a painful body 20-40 years from now, Fuck the haters, believe in yourself.
