Guys can someone please give me ideas. I am so tired of video games. But I have yet to find a hobby I can do at my whim, can sink hours into, and is fun as fuck. I want to stop playing video games but I just can't find a worthy replacement. I'll go hiking and shit all the time, but like right now, sitting here, what can i do for fun? I'm so fucking bored. TLDR: Vidya gaem no good, need new hobby, pls help.

Read books. A good book can suck you in for hours and a really good book can make you a better person for it. Check out the sticky in /lit/ for basic recommendations.

Because books are not limited to fiction. You can read some history. Or philosophy. Or science. Duh.

Real fuckin neato, character development only outweighs action in your opinion so this argument is pointless and subjective >Because books usually give out some life lessons. So do video games >Because books are not limited to fiction. You can read some history. Or philosophy. Or science. Duh. Neither are video games. You can interactively learn about history. Or Science. Or question your philosophical stances through the positions you are put in during the game, unlike the book which has you only see the character questioning it and not yourself sorry bookfag

Competitive Video Gaming. >hurr durr thats still gaming I dont wanna do that quit wasting your time playing shit like assasins creed or Call of Duty. Find an older game with depth and a competitive community. its a solid, fun hobby that you can do at any time, you have control over the outcome, and there is a huge sense of ACTUAL accomplishment over time, not just some achievement points. I personally recommend Super Smash Bros. Melee. lots of depth, familiarity, and a great community.

Go to Wikipedia and look up a relatively obscure religion. Learn all about it. Learn it's entire doctrine and dogma. Learn its origins and every aspect of what it entails. Re-interpret an aspect of it in a way that makes others who join the religion see you as a leader. A priest, or bishop, if you will. Rent out a local small commercial property and start your own church/temple/sanctum etc. Pick a part of town where youths and low-income households populate the majority of the demographic. Go to kinkos and make a bunch of flyers for your church's services. Give sermons and collect tithes. After a few months your tithes should be coming in at such a rate that you can take more time to giver more frequent sermons, print more flyers, and advertise to a broader spectrum. Soon you will need to expand your commercial property in order to contain the new converts. After this point, your income from your religion should surpass a standard full-time job since the people now exchange monetary coin for salvation at your whim. You can continue to give sermons and collect tax-free income until the day you day, literally living off of the hopes and dreams of an entire species. You can overthrow governments, you can make kings and you can dethrone them. You are the commander of the deadliest force in the universe as well as the keeper of all that is sacred. And the stars will scream you name in bloody murder. Or you can go play some vidyagaems.

>>16004972 But that's not true. We as humans require food. In order to eat we must work. Or in some way auire money. So we are essentially slaves to our own bodies. This notion of true "free will" is not an actual truth. We live somewhere. The place where we live has rules. Other places also have rules so we find a place which has rules we like. From there we have to pay stuff to keep living there. So therefore we must work a job. We have no other option than to make money or we starve. or become homeless, and then die or whatever. Not an existance any of us wants. So to keep on living a decent existence we have to do something that produces an income. Therefore not only are we all forced to do something, but by simply being alive we are forced to jump through hoops right from the get go.

>>16004944 You think I mean girlfriends when I'm talking about love? Man you are just an aspie I give up. I don't care at this point I have homework to do, you are too non-compliant and stubborn you're never going to be happy and you will always doubt yourself, others around you, your reality, and your future. You will never always feel shaken and sad but hey I'm on top of the wooooooooooooooooorld. What helped me was therapy (THERAPY IS JUST A CHEMICAL REACTION) and having a support group of friends and family who genuinely cared about me (FRIENDSHIP AND LOVE IS JUST AN ENZYME FROM MY SPHINCTER) and of course /fit/. /fit/ helped me a lot. Peace, and good luck.

>>16005179 Why do you want to be happy so much? How is that any different than being sad all the time? Is it more productive? if it is then does it make a difference? To your life satisfaction maybe? To what end? You get to chose what you want, I'll give you that, from a limited selection of course. but still you have a certain freedom of choice. As to what that amounts to I don't know. I really don't see it any different than being handed a ration daily to eat.

You, my dog, my mother, my brother, my friend, my girlfriend, the tree outside, my car, obama, iran, the world, the universe, the galaxy, the atoms that make up my eyeball. I think i'm just done with it. I think the only reason I'm still alive is because I want to see how badly our economy is going to get chewed up and spat back out in the next year or two. Get to witness the carnage and all the hopes and dreams of all my fellow humans just be thrown out. I'll go ahead and make the prediction. Suicide rates after the end of the year are going to skyrocket. It's cute isn't it?

>>16003277 I think a hobby should be based on your interests (duh). Personally I really like rock climbing and trap shooting but each is rather pricey and also somewhat inconvenient to do on the spur of the moment. I got into archery as well and I love it. You can do it alone or with people, there's a fair number of free ranges (or just shoot in your backyard if possible), and once you get past the initial cost of buying the equipment you won't have to pay for much else at all. tl;dr: I recommend you try archery, it's fun.

>>16005335 I think I might just take up base jumping. I'm so fucking tall I don't know if I even can tho. I watched a doc on it and the guy was just like me. Apparently it's pretty fun to fly through the air at 120mph wearing a wingsuit too. I'm actually doing a cut right now and I think the main reason I'm even doing it is so I can get to the lowest weight possible and be more effective and efficient at doing that shit. Looks like an adrenaline rush if nothing else. Worse that happens is I smash into the pavement at 100+mph speeds. I don't think it really matters honestly.

>>16005293 Try saving a life and watching that person grow up be happy because of you and you might realize the beauty of living. That person might have children, who will have children, who will have more children, leading to the generation of humanity that may one day achieve real nobility in the universe, maybe even the answers you are seeking. if you can't save a life, try creating one. it has the same effect

>>16005343 a note of caution, if you decide to pursue archery: you can end up spending a LOT of money on certain things that don't matter to a beginner. The whole recurve/compound (or maybe even longbow) choice is up to you, but regardless of what you buy I suggest you get nothing other than the bare essentials. That means no sight, no stabilizer, etc. It helps you learn how to shoot properly and then you can add the other stuff in later, as you feel fit. another word of caution with archery, there's somewhat of a sizable learning curve. once you get the hang of it though, it's awesome. hiking is a really good outlet for energy, but i've found that I need other stuff as well, since part of the joy of hiking for me is the novelty of the place, and I eventually run out of new places I can go that are close by and convenient (obviously excluding longer backpacking trips here).
