Hey /fit/ So I'm aiming for a 3000 kcal daily intake, currently aiming to take 8 meals a day. Although I am doing this, I have snacks in between like chocolate covered peanuts and delicious almonds. Thing is 200g of chocolate covered peanuts contains 1018 kcals and 200g of almonds contains 1256 kcal. I easily go through this in a day as well as the other meals (fish, oats, lean meats etc.) and it seems that these have already taken up 2/3rds of my total intake surely this can't be correct? How can these small snacks take up so much and barely fill me when full meals have less in them and fill me up much more? What am I doing wrong?

>Not doing IF Stopped reading Everybody should do IF, not only is it better and creates a more anabolic environment for your body, releases more growth hormone, but it also kills all sugar cravings and hungar, allowing you to eat when you want and what you want. Add to that the possibility to lose weight without having a kcal deficit, and the ability to bulk and stay lean at the same time. I eat most of my kcal and proteins in two meals over 3-4 hours. This is what you call "calorie dense food". In your case I'd call it "shit tier food". Chocolate covered peanuts, seriously?

peanuts and almonds have high fat content. Fat is also the most calorie dense macronutrient (about 9 cals per gram). Carbohydrates and protein have only 4-5 calories per gram. This is why they use up so much of your daily intake

18 min later 15003142 Anonymous
>>15003092 well the only problem I see with having a high-fat diet is possibly not meeting your protein and carbohydrate needs. I tend to make sure I get my protein needs for the day, ensuring im getting plenty of carbs for energy in the gym, and have a few high fat- foods to get in easy calories and meet my surplus.

>>15003101 I really don't see how it's so impossible? >>15003040 the peanuts have 16.4 g of protein per 100g is this bad? and the almonds have 25g per 100 isn't that quite a bit?

>>15003180 Nobody says to do that. Eat a 300-500 surplus on a bulk and do IF at the same time, you may not even out on any fat

>>15003147 it's all subjective man, how many grams of protein do you want to get in a day? are ya going for the usual gram per pound of bodyweight a day? Most important thing is to meet your macronutrient needs while eating at a certain caloric surplus

>>15003239 I'm really just trying to gain mass while being healthy and gaining muscle, so I'm eating lots of steak, salmon and grilled chicken. As well as rice, eggs, oats, and vegetables. Is gram per pound of body weight a good starting point?

45 min later 15003402 Anonymous
>>15003311 The general consensus is 1 to 1.5 g per lb is good. On a 3000 cal diet that is pretty easy to achieve. If you really want to have something set you could try to get a certain ratio of macronutrients a day, say 40% cals from protein, 40% from carbs, and 20% from fat. Or you could just get adequate amount of protein and carbs and fill in the rest of your calories with fat.
