can someone send me a link to squat form with relatively heavy weight? I was hitting 285 yesterday and this guy told me I would blow out my knees if I keep putting them too far forward, and he suggested winging them out to either side, and not letting my knees go past my feet. I think I got it (it actually helped me hit way below parallel) but I want to be sure. any tips?

It depends on your form. High bar olympic back squats or front squats will have your knees tracking well past your toes. A low bar back squat will have more vertical shins due to hip drahve. Either way, you should be shoving your knees out and "spreading the floor." This will protect your knees from shear forces.

>>15002388 interesting, I guess I was throwing mine completely forward. I've never had any pain or anything. Even when I've maxed out.

>>15002388 This. On high bar squats, the knees are almost always in front of the feet, all this "blabla have to stay behind the feet blabla" stuff is bullshit. Just watch that your knees don't "fold inward" when moving up because of the weight. If you want perfect from, watch olympic lifters go ATG with high weight, not stupid-ass powerlifters.

When I highbar squat I push my knees out as far as possible while maintaining that arch. Yet, I still get some lingering back pain. I can't find a reason for this

>>15004083 What kind of pain? Also, film yourself, you might not have the arch you're thinking you have.

>>15004097 Brother watches me and swears I maintain it all the way to the bottom. He could be bullshitting me. Will probably get a video tomorrow.
