Inflation crushing you to the tune of 15% per year as you sit for the market crash.
When the market crash comes you hesitate as you think it will go lower.
Whoops, too late bub, maybe next time, as your cash continues to lose purchasing power to the tune of 15% per year.
T. Keep $1500-$3000 on deck, the rest... into assets.

How much $$$ did central banks print in 2020 & 2021? Did assets & *desirable* real estate increase in price? How much?
How much have commodities (e.g. lumber), beef, etc. increased in price over the past few months?

Jesus Christ just have an emergency credit card, that gives you at least 1 month to liquidate some assets and you aren't stuck sitting in fiat waiting for an emergency that probably will never come.

lol, i would be interested to see where you're getting good returns from a bank. maybe if you're already a richfag you can put like a mill into dividend funds or something through your bank, but we are talking about holding liquid cash here (savings or checking account).

I've never had enough for a 1k emergency fund, it really does help my cat got hit by a car and was gonna have to put her down because I was so broke.
Luckily I refused to put her down and helped her recover but had she been worse off she wouldn't have had an option.
And that's just a cat I'm fucked if anything else happens.

Ok I am a boomer (35) and have a small emergency fund in a saving account because I own a home, so it's reasonable to think I need to have thousands in cash on hand at all times.
But I'm seriously thinking of just dropping it all into stable coins on Celsius and getting 12.5% so at least it's not dying in a bank account. Thoughts?
Btw I'm trans if that matters,

Just buy some crypto cunt, also /fit/izen here.
Say you actually need emergency money, you can always liquidate some crypto and cash out if its THAT BAD, or you can just a loan, interest rates are tiny as fuck now, or you can just use a credit card and pay it off straight away.
I use to be the type of cunt to keep $50k in savings for emergencies, but now I only keep 2-3k max.

Do any of you have a wife, children, older parents, car, or run their own business? It’s common for adults with responsibilities to keep some cash for unforeseen situations. I mean seriously, if 10k in a savings account is hurting you that much you need a better job.

If 10k in a savings account would be a significant part of your assets, you haven't come close to making it. I keep some cash in a savings account because some bullshit might come up. But the money in the savings account is about 2 months salary, not exactly a huge chunk relative to everything else.

What if you sell for -90%? And you have a mortgage to pay? Medical bills to pay? Daycare, food, electricity, vehicles? You have a job and kids right, at least a gf then? How is she going to deal with an unemployed biztard preaching about the moon?
