Yes, it is. Waiting for months to reach six figures, just to soon after start seeing fluctuations reaching 4-5 figures every minute. Those are the times you figure out what your hands are made of.

2017 fag here.
Three different configurations of my portfolio at various times would be worth 2 million dollars today. Most notably my ICO chainlink stack. Today I'm only worth 300k, still grinding shitcoins. But, crypto has paid for all of my expenses for the last 3 years. I only put 3k into crypto but it feels disgraceful that I was early and am not yet rich

BTC 20x 2013 ATH in 2017. Not saying BTC can do that again this cycle, but 45k is still only 2x previous ATH.
The hard part is letting your stacks go when the whole market is saying moon moon moon.

i am tippy toeing the line at $1MM. Besides obviously crypto, a lot of the money I made in the market are in hyped speculative ETFs like the ARKK, ARKW, ARKG, PBW and stocks like TSLA, SE, SQ, CRSP, etc. I've moved to safer indexes like VTI and QQQ and sold 70% of crypto but a market crash could easily take away 30-40% of my money. Or a long stagflationary period like Japan in 1990s to today would mean my money won't grow. The idea of quitting my WFH job where I shitpost and browse all day makes me feel stupid and guilty when most people would kill for such a job. I also get enough 401K matching, bonuses and I am thinking I should cling on to the job until I have enough to say my $$$ will never drop below $1MM again. Then of course you read people who made it further than people like me and they want $10MM but I don't think I'll get that greedy.

So only put out little bits of exposure in stuff you think will boom. Like you start in the shitcoin flipping game throwing half an eth here and there and pulling 2-5x's without too much risk in a few hours. When you're in the big money it just plays out over bigger cycles. Throw 5 eth here and there and pull a 2-5x in a few weeks/months.

Flip eth on shitcoins to stack more. Stack eth and when it starts breaking over 2500 have a plan to start chip selling your stack on the way up. Set a price target for to sell 10%, and another, and another, but if you ever see a 25% drop or so get ready to dump the rest. You may miss out on the most maximum gains but you will guarantee gains on the way up and down.

it's because having six figures invested in crypto is the most stressful. It's a large amount of money, and you'll feel like roping if the market crashes. But on the other hand, it's not enough to make it yet.
If you had 5 figures or less, it's not as psychologically stressful because you're not risking all that much in the grand scheme of things.
If you had 7 figures or more, you could just cash out and live a comfy life.
But in 6 figure hell, you're stuck in limbo.

I understand that feel. After finishing grad school I had trouble getting a job, because I was stuck in the "need experience to get a job, need a job to get experience" vicious cycle. I felt borderline suicidal because it just felt shameful to have amounted to nothing and unable to get a job and all that.
Later on after finally landing a decent job, by some miracle, I realized that nobody actually gives a shit whatsoever what you do. All that really matters is how much money you're bringing home. When talking to people, the only time their jobs even come up in conversation is if they don't know each other and are trying to break the ice. Past that, nobody even bothers asking or talking about it.

If you think that's bad, imagine knowing about bitcoin since 2010-2011 because of /g/, and not having bought it at any point during those early years.
I was a lazy nigger in college when I built my first PC in 2011. I thought I'd try out bitcoin mining for shits and giggles. But after 10 minutes messing around, I couldn't figure out how to hook up to slush's pool and get the software running, so I just immediately gave up on it and forgot about it. I think my original plan back then was to juts mine some pocket change and sell it (nobody at the time even realized it would become such a crazy investment). I'm pretty positive that if I had mined a couple coins for shits and giggles back then, I wouldn't have even bothered figuring out how to sell them, and it would've just sat in a wallet for years and years. Oh fucking well. Can't change the past.

correction: *HAD* slavemind. After wagecucking I realized it's all bullshit. That all that matters is making money, and money only matters because it brings you new opportunities and frees you from being a debt slave and wageslave.
Once I break a million dollars in crypto, I'm lending that shit out on DeFi and will make enough passive income to never have to wagecuck again. Then I'll reinvest some of it when the subsequent bear market bottoms out, and ride the wave up again during the next halving cycle.

Converted my stack and from then on, I was DCA'ing about $100 a week into LINK. I did that up until $20. Managed to accumulate roughly 15k LINK, which still kinda hurts because I could have had a lot more than that if I wasn't so conservative. Yeah agreed. I started with 4 figures in 2017, moved to 5 figures in 2018 by buying more, moved to 6 figures after Google pump, and started to find it crazy that I’d gain or lose 4-5 figures each day feeling stress. Now sitting on 7 figures seeing daily fluctuations of 6 figures and I feel nothing anymore except joy. I’m unironically not larping when I say I laugh a ton when shit goes down 20-40%. You said it yourself, you weren't interested in crypto. No matter how "easy" it feels to make money, motivation and having the balls to make the decisions are the dividers between the "make its" and "make it nots". You have to care about the field and be adventurous to get somewhere. So don't beat yourself over it and keep pushing forward.

It's when you start with four figures thinking "wow, there is no way I make five figs off this, with $20k I could practically start a new life!"
Then you hit five figures. The dopamine fades immediately. You realize it isn't enough, and you aren't willing to trade the sunk time holding for a brief reward. So you wait. Many of us waited through a bear market. So the sunk time mindfuck gets more powerful.
You hit 50k, and the feeling fades even faster than when you hit five figs the first time. You've made money, but not enough.
Six figures come violently. A new but familiar feeling, the dopamine fades quickly. You realize you aren't taking profits here, after all, the average onions office man make 100k in a year. Now hitting 200, 300, 400k doesn't really mean anything to you. Enough to buy the most modest house and car and have a bit leftover. You're still a wage slave.
Once you hit six figs, there is no real elation until you are approaching seven. Now you're in a situation where liquidating 10k-50k to get by in the meantime seems totally preposterous, you're potentially selling yourself short of hitting 7figs.
I have $300 in the bank, a twenty year old car with a cracked windshield, a very sub-optimal living situation, and I'm not fucking selling. This may be a terrible mistake, because literal years of my life are passing and pushing me into a deeper existential depression than I experienced before ever buying crypto. My original goal was to cash out enough to get a reliable car and go back to school. Instead I just became a hermit waiting on a dream that may never happen.
It may do some of you well to be reminded that you can't buy back the years.

I miss the 5 figures time. I'd rarely even look at the value of my portfolio. It was just a funny little sidehobby I'd occasionally dip into and then forget about. But now I check my stack multiple times a day. I'm sure it'll dump back at some point ...but what if it doesn't? What if it pumps another 3x. Or maybe even 5x? Or 10x?Will I finally make it? Unlikely, but's it's now just about within the reach of the possible.

I bough another 4000€ BTC in April 2018 with a long term BTC holding strategy.

It's easy to think someone who has simply been holding a bag for a while is lucky or lazy, but only if they're in profit. But if you've lived it, you know it is a constant stress on the mind to be invested in anything. You may perceive this differently if you understood how stressful it is to be holding something this volatile for this long and not taking profits. All I can say is you won't get far passing judgements on people's success/failure, you're just building a prison for your mind where you'll be the only inmate.
