Welcome to the Monero General, dedicated to the discussion of the world's leading decentralized p2p privacy cryptocurrency! Monero is secure, low-fee, and borderless, meaning users can send XMR around the globe despite corrupt governments or broken financial systems. Innovative privacy features such as Ring Signatures, Stealth Addresses, and Ring CT (hidden tx amounts) ensure that Monero's blockchain is obfuscated -- the financial history of all Monero users is encrypted from the prying eyes of adversaries on a public blockchain, with transactions being visible only by a Monero user willingly providing a view key for a specific transaction. Monero has also improved upon the scaling downsides of current popular cryptos. To avoid high fees, dynamic block size ensures that the size of the blocks will increase as the amount of txs increases. Further, the mining network algorithm RandomX establishes that anybody with a CPU can participate in mining, preventing the ASIC miner domination that creates a high barrier of entry. Lastly, the mining network will be preserved by Tail Emission -- instead of the block reward falling to zero like with Bitcoin, the block reward will gradually approach 0.6 XMR in May 2022, where it will forever stay. This constant linear inflation means the inflation rate will asymptotically go to zero while continuing to provide an incentive to miners to maintain the network. If you still have questions, feel free to ask and a MoneroChad will be with you shortly. >>28193096 Crypto is really volatile so if you go all in you might get burned pretty bad. We usually recommend to DCA over a few months to hedge against this. That said, the btc ratio is stupidly low so yeah you can if you are comfortable with that and you’ve done your research.

>>28197151 It’s a hard fork of zcash. They are shielded only as far as I know which is nice, even if it is a trusted set up. The problems: they rely on zcash to create technology, really weak anon sets (even though they are fully shielded, they have less shielded transactions then zcash...and zcash is 99% transparent), a moonboy community, retarded (and cringe) branding, asic miner domination, retarded mining rewards (most of it has already been mined despite the coin being fairly new, which is a red flag), no long term planning for scaling, and a lack of trust.

2 hours later 28206453 Anonymous
>>28205695 >Correct me if i'm wrong but dont the funds stay on the wallet too? No. You don't have "money", you have a list of spendable "coins" on the blockchain. With your key, and only your key, you can spend them (=send to some other address). Your coins can not get lost, only your access can. Theoretical transaction data could leak (amounts, receiver, timestamp); if you're super paranoid about this you could put the data on an encrypted partition. >Also I've seen bits suggesting that trezor and ledger can be compromised, are there any good brands? All attacks require physical access to the device and special equipment. Buy from a reputable source to prevent tampering. Beware that the ledger shop leaked data last summer, so I would buy one from the official amazon store instead.
