ITT: we propose how we'd change the education system. >offer classes according to the human capital it adds to the individual as determined by economists/actuaries/statisticians. That is, no more art, music or history classes. >during high school, offer about five general "majors" (business, social science, math, natural science, humanities, etc.) which would be more vague than college majors. >school vouchers to increase competition and enable more freedom for parents and students >get rid of extra curriculars >liberal arts education, if so required, should at the very least contain a course in logic with an emphasis on analyzing real-world arguments and propositions, a course in meta-cognition (psychological biases, etc.) and philosophy. If we're going to have a liberal arts that teaches kids how to think, we might actually do well to teach some subjects that actually accomplish that. >inb4 everyone just tries to debate me rather than propose their own reforms

in america i would say the first and most important change should be mandatory classes on law, from elementary school to high school people should be educated about laws from the local level up to federal, why? when a person is charged with breaking the law, ignorance of the law is not an excuse. however there is no system currently in place to ensure that citizens are aware of all the laws they need to abide by. cant expect parents to take the helm here since 1 the laws have changed since they were children, and 2, they were never fully educated about the law either unless they elected to study it during and after high school, why the fuck are people expected to abide by rules that they have not been informed of?

>>423429183 I think Americans are too fucking stupid. Period. Guess what? I'm an American. Teenagers who go through school now are more interested in texting their friends and watching stupid shit like Jersey Shore on TV all the time. When they get home from school, they feel like they've been forced to watch boring old fucks talk about subjects they don't care about. The assholes who feel like making a reality TV show out of every fucking aspect of daily life need to be shot in the face and dragged down a dusty road near a farm somewhere. My biggest fucking pet peeve is when kids look at a TV and their mouth is open the whole time. introduce a tier system like in brave new world, and have a bi-annual exam in which one can test from a lower tier to an upper one, and twice a year, the lowest students in each tier gets demoted to a tier lower. of course, the highest tier will have access to an education that will lead them to become leaders and academics, the next few tiers will lead to good jobs in offices and laboratories, the lowest tiers will be trained to perform manual labor.

Meditation should be taught in schools, with a focus on controlling emotions and impulses. As technology keeps advancing our natural habitat will be continually destroyed and we will increasingly become like mere cogs in a big machine, causing more and more anxiety and depressive problems. It will probably become an epidemic at some stage in the near future, to the point that medicating people will be passed off as an absolute necessity sort of like vaccines are now. People being able to meditate and control their own mental states without the use of medication would at least have some remnant of humaneness about it

encourage college students to attend school farther away from home. As in increased financial aid from the national government (not state) for students going out of state for college (university for those of you out in Europe). The idea behind this is that while you are being educated to think about the world in a different way, you also meet with people of your own country who have very different views on how the country should interact with the outside world and how to improve itself. Rather than let the country continue to be divided by political, religious, economic differences you encourage the up and coming body of the country to try to understand eachother rather than believe they are superior

Totally with you on the logic thing, and philosophy, and I'd also add a big emphasis on critical thinking across all types of education. Honestly, I think that to fix the education system you need A) more funding B) teachers to be responsible for their own efficacy. Not necessarily on the grades of the students, because that would cause the teachers to give people excessively good grades to keep their jobs, but based on a review process of some kind periodically. I don't know about the states, but in Canada the teachers' union is so strong that once a teacher's been somewhere a while, you basically can't fire them no matter how bad they are. C) Remove emphasis on rote learning and change to emphasis on analysis of real problems, logic, critical thinking, figuring out by yourself how to solve problems D) Allow greater specialization in high school so that it actually prepares you for a job or post-secondary

Education comes from the latin educo--meaning to develop ,to educe and to draw out from WITHIN. The laws of the universe-- the laws that govern the mental faculties of mankind have to be taken to account with extreme precaution and devotion. This in turn will completely revolutionize the method of education and turn it to its natural state. That is-- the real education that is supposed to teach you how to live from the inside out. Not the outside in. When the little kiddo in school is out there building big pictures in his mind it's called ''not paying attention'' when in truth , the imagination is one of the most POWERFUL things in this entire universe. The imagination has been sacrificed for memory as that big number 1 modality. What most of the sheeple take for granted and underestimate are actually the things that matter the most when these things are properly ''cultivated'' : ) and disciplined. And that is the things which dreams are made of. People like Walt Disney and Ford and Edison and the Wright Brothers? Huh : ) . These people are the ones the school system would call motherfucking black sheep who wouldn't ''conform'' and always be pointed by the fingers by others for being ''illogical'' Hahaha. See , this is why -- some things are best kept secret. So what you do with the educational system is teach man how to think. That's right. You can teach people how to think. You must teach people how the mind works and get these people in touch with their feelings.Get them back in alignment with their heart's true desires. You must teach people how to formulate their desires. And how to bring them into being. You must teach people how to FANTASIZE,THEORIZE and then PUT INTO FACT. Not the motherfucking opposite. : ) Right now-- ''education'' is undeveloped as hell and it teaches one how to live from the ''outside in.'' That is based on appearances and based on the results of the past which lags the universe about 69 fold.

She ruined it but of course regretted it. It was vandalism and she should have asked permission to change it. The basic thing people need to know is the golden rule

>>423440350 if the law is too much to teach people than why should it apply to them when they are ignorant of it? clearly there either needs to be less, better written laws, or the courts need to stop expecting average citizens to know every law that applies to them. and we're back to the start, if society demands people abide by laws then they need to be told what those laws are, if those laws are too much to teach people and no effort is made to do so than do not expect people to know whether anything they do is legal or not.

You cannot teach reasoning skills and morality to everyone through a regimented system, and the only type of educational system that will work on a national scale is a regimented one. A system that aims to teach mechanical skills like reading, writing, and math is adequate.

>>423441482 Then it's a problem of government failure. It should not be fixed by making law studying compulsory in school. Don't start shoveling water from the basement if the pipes are still leaking. Attack the problem at it's source. I'm not replying to your typing again. In fact I'm out of this thread.

>>423441482 You're a retard. In general, there are two types of laws, theft and physical harm to people or property. All else is determined by non-criminal regulations or civil proceedings. By the time someone is 10, they know stealing and hurting others is wrong. If they avoid doing those things, they will probably never be charged with a crime. With regard to other regulations, the penalties are usually fines and not prison and you can usually avoid violating them by seeking professional consultations when engaging in major business transactions.

Especially everywhere but most importantly in the healing arts, in physics & business. Awareness and creativity is the big deal. Not memory & competition. Abraham Lincoln '' I freed who? '' :P HAHAHAHAHA But indeed, he wanted these subhumans back to the jungles not in civilization. And the South were too ignorant to comprehend.

>>423442446 >thread about changing education, not government changing the government is for another thread, this thread proposed changes to the current educational system which operates under the current government, we agree the current education system is insufficient so without even getting into the details of what changes should be made to education it is already assumed that the government has failed, regardless of what government is controlling things it is just plain illogical force concrete rules on people without informing them of them, even with your 'moral guidelines'. it is logical that if you demand a thinking entity to obey a set rules that the entity be informed what those rules are, otherwise you might as well remove any opportunity to break rules from the environment so people dont have to worry about it in the first place.

>>423446419 Why do we need to teach everyone the law of everyone already knows basic crimes like theft, battery, rape, and murder are crimes? Complex regulatory statutes regarding issues like securities exchange, real property transactions, and tax codes will only be applicable to people who should already have an awareness of them.

>>423447472 because those regulatory systems are used to legally circumvent basic morals at the expense of average people, one easy example is yo-yo financing among car dealerships, it exploits current grey areas of the law to trick people into legally signing over their cars with the promise of financing for a new one only to followup with whoops you werent approved for financing, we're gonna have to take that new car back and we still keep your old one, a slimy but often legal practice. obviously people shouldnt be signing contracts that they arent fully reading but it is obviously immoral for the dealership to promise financing when they have yet to determine if the person would have approval. yet they can legally do it as long as they tiptoe around the regulations just so.
