Am I stupid for feeling suicidal about the 2020s? It just seems like everything is completely and utterly hopeless. There is no good news anymore. Things are only going to get worse. What can I do to avoid this feeling of despair?

stop reading the news. anger and despair are addicting emotions, something which is exploited by social media. it's what keeps boomers and zoomers alike browsing facebook and reddit looking for things to be nice and angry about, and journalists realized this ages ago. with the way modern journalism work there basically is no separation between it and social media. the sooner you cut out the 24 hour news feed from your life, the happier you will be.
if some truly important event happens your receive word of it passively.

Not the guy you replied to but I used to be anprim and of course the core belief of that is that not just society but civilization as a whole is a mistake and so we would just all wait and hope that civilization would collapse and I learned some survival skills and got into shape.
That was years ago though, now I'm older and hopefully wiser cause actually civilization is pretty cool. It's flawed sure but what isn't. I'd much rather be able to like go buy my food at the store and shit in a toilet and have a nice warm bed indoors instead of having to shit in a hole in the ground and sleep on the ground and dying from diarrhea because I ate the wrong berries or something
